Improvisation

Last night was my first home cooked meal in the apartment (crab cakes, garlic mash and salad). Always interesting when you don’t have very much. Hence the vacuum cleaner box as our dining table, wine from mugs and no chairs. All of this leading to me realising that this could be good for my creative spirit, forcing me to improvise…

Why are there 3 plates? Looks great – we had sheets for curtains for the first 3 years we lived here, along with our TV on a piece of kitchen bench balanced on bricks!
I laughed at your previous post re the over friendliness, it is like that here to and I found the same thing……..it was a bit disconcerting. I think most sales staff are paid on a certain amount of commission in Aus and USA hence the friendliness whereas in the UK they are just paid to be there. It’ll be interesting to see how American or British you find Australia. I often think it is a mix.

3 because we had J’s colleague staying with us until yesterday, he and I made the crab cakes while J went and got the wine πŸ™‚
I’ll let you know what I think of the American/Britishness of Australia, will be interesting to see I think!

I am SOO confused…Marie, I somehow failed to update my reader when you switched blog and I’ve missed everything since you moved them! Well, I just caught myself up and I feel all embarrassed and negligent. For some reason when I saw your comment today it clicked that I hadn’t read anything in awhile!
So – wow, I can’t believe all of the change that you’ve been through in the past few months! I had all the same things going on when we moved from the US to Switzerland – I mean…the whole fitting in and making friends…it’s stressful and not always easy but it tends to work itself out I guess. I can’t wait to read more about what you think of the US! I find it so funny that you think it’s nice that people are overly nice and say hello and ask to help you – I used to get so annoyed at it but now here, where people definitely are not overhelpful – I get offended!
